FAQ: Charge 2000X Battery

The advanced NiMH battery used in the 2000X TranSporter Motorboard can be charged two ways.

Quick Charge: Simply turn your Motorboard switch to the OFF position, plug the charger into the Motorboard, then plug the charger power cord into the wall, and wait for the green light on the charger to illuminate (typically 90-120 minutes). (It is important to follow this exact sequence, if the power cord is plugged into the wall before the charger is plugged into the Motorboard, the charger lights may flash red-green, and no charging will occur.)

Conditioning Charge: Every 10 charges, make sure to ride the scooter to completely empty. This is done by turning the power switch, located on the side of your scooter, off and back on after the scooter’s automatic low power shut off is engaged (blinking red LED on throttle). Ride the scooter until it shuts down again. Do this 3 or 4 times more. Wait 10 minutes for the battery to cool down and charge until the charge cycle is finished (approximately 90-120 minutes).

Temperature: The Motorboard and the battery must be between 60 Degrees F and 90 Degrees F to charge properly. If your battery charger lights blink red/green, most likely the temperature is out of range, and you should bring the Motorboard to room temperature before attempting to charge again.

Remember:

  • Always charge your battery with the motorboard power switch in the OFF position
  • Always charge until the green light glows on the charger
  • Always wait 5 minutes after heavy use for the battery to cool down before charging
  • Charge the battery every 30 days when not in use
  • Make sure the charger is plugged DIRECTLY into the wall, not an overloaded power strip
  • Make sure your charger is not sitting directly on a concrete floor. Ground loops can cause the charger to malfunction.

If you follow these suggestions you will get a very long life out of your battery. When your battery eventually does start to go, you can order a replacement from our website, www.rothmotors.com.
