FAQ: Does the Motorboard work in wet conditions?

The TranSporter Motorboards are not all-purpose scooters. They are specifically designed for the urban commute. When designing the Motorboard, we took into consideration a few key requirements. It must be extremely small and lightweight so that it may be carried on trains, busses, and subways. It must be powerful enough to quickly get you to where you are going. It must be able to quick charge in an hour or two. It must be affordable. It must be stylish and of the highest quality.

These requirements ruled out things like inflatable tires, gears, and belts. So we designed an entirely new drive system. Basically, we have two custom-wound motors tuned to our specific requirements, and the shafts of these motors pinch the sidewalls of the rear wheel to cause it to turn. Our wheels are made from a custom designed polyether compound that give them the right amount of stickiness.

The benefits are that the drive system is extremely lightweight, efficient, and powerful. The downside is that it does not work in wet conditions. So, if you are looking for a scooter that works in the rain, the Motorboard is not for you. But if you want something to jazz up your commute on dry days, you will find nothing better.
